Developed by bird watchers, for bird watchers
How to store your bird sightings and retrieve information has always been one of the greatest
challenges and enjoyments of bird watching; The answer is Bird Tick List Pro.
We set out 5 years ago to develop a computer program that would make entering and reviewing
records fun and efficient. We formed an alliance with 23 bird watchers including county recorders and
bird watching clubs; the result of this alliance was Bird Tick List.
Today the alliance continues and Bird Tick List has evolved into one of the most powerful bird
watching programs on the market; Bird Tick List Pro, used by thousands of bird watchers and
several organisations, it’s a program with a real pedigree.
Bird Tick List Pro continues to be developed by bird watchers for bird watchers, it has more features
than any other program on the market and yet still continues to be one of the most intuitive to use
and the best value for money.

Save your bird watching trips to your PC
When sightings are stored using BTLP all of the information is stored in a secure database which
allows you to browse your records or search for specific information.
The more sightings you record the more valuable the information and the more interesting statistics
and reports become. BTLP can copy your information to a removable drive so your valuable records
are always safe.

|
Mark your bird sightings on a map
The latest version of BTLP allows you to mark on a detailed map the exact location of a bird sighting
(UK only), you can find and save the Long/Lat and the OS grid reference, as well as a host of other
information including habitat details and BTO tetrad location.
To save time you only ever have to enter this information once as the location is held on a favorites
list which, with two clicks will copy all of the details into your current record whenever you need it
leaving you to simply move the pointer on the map to show exactly where you saw the bird.

Review and analyze your records
One of the great pleasures and rewards of recording your bird sightings is reviewing your bird watching
trips and reminding yourself of what birds you saw.
Entering your sightings can help you relive the day out you just had and confirm the identification of
your sightings.
BTLP has several ways to review your records, either using the main screen, 'Day Review', 'Browse
Records' or one of several reports.
If you want to view statistics you can go to the 'My Statistics centre', here you can see graphs and
tables detailing bird sightings, personal firsts, number of species recorded per month and much more.

Produce location, species and life list reports
Once you have some bird sightings entered you can produce reports with two clicks of the mouse.
The most used report is probably the 'life list' report which lists all the birds you have seen, where you
saw them and when you saw them. BTLP also identifies your personal first sightings and the
confidence you had in the identification.
BTLP currently has over 12 reports and we add more on a regular basis.
All reports are exportable to PDF and Excel. With the built in link to Adobe file share you can also
publish your reports online or embed them in web pages and Bloggs.
Reports currently include various life lists, location reports, BTO tetrad report, user report, county
recorders report, day view report and many more.
If you suggest an idea for a report that we believe would benefit other BTLP users we will produce it for
you, free of charge!
We can also produce bespoke reports for Bird Clubs and organisations for a small fee.

You can add your own images to your sightings or images automatically located on the Internet for
you by BTLP. If your a wildlife photographer you can also record image details, conditions and
equipment used to take the photograph.
BTLP comes with nearly 200 FREE high quality bird song recordings, each one detailing song and
call, you can attach the sound file to your record. You can also create your own recordings and
attach those.
If you have video footage of a bird, you can also attach this to your record and view it whilst browsing
through your records.

Identify birds with a built in function linking to the RSPB
This function has proved to be exceedingly popular with BTLP users. Click on a bird in a drop list and
a window opens and loads all the information on that bird from the RSPB.
This is particularly useful if you are not sure of your identification or you want to check out some
background details of a bird.
